Patient and Carer Pressure Ulcer Panel

Pressure Ulcers, sometimes called bedsores, can cause a great deal of discomfort and distress for patients, as well as those caring for them. At the University of Leeds we are committed to raising awareness of the problems which pressure ulcers cause and improving patient care through research.

We are bringing together a group of patients and carers from around Yorkshire who have personal experience of pressure ulcers. This experience could be as a patient, carer or family member. This group will help develop our pressure ulcer research. There are different ways to become involved including,

- Looking at patient materials at home

- Coming into the University for meetings and events

- Helping us develop new research ideas

- Becoming a member of committees which oversee research

We will work together to find the level of commitment which is right each individual. Group members will be reimbursed for their time.

We believe that the unique perspective of patients and carers is very important and must be represented in our research.
